1. What personal information do we collect, and how do we use it?
We log your IP address, browser type, access times, and referring site to help diagnose potential problems with our server, and to administer our website. Your IP address is used to gather broad demographic information. Our log files are not tied to personally identifiable information.

Our site uses cookies to keep track of your user account. We use cookies to deliver content specific to your interests, to save your username so you don't have to re-enter it each time you visit our site, and for other purposes. For our site to function properly, you need to have cookies enabled. Our cookies are not tied to personally identifiable information.

We use a third-party tracking service that uses cookies to track non-personally identifiable information about visitors to our site in the aggregate. This is collected to track usage, volume, and conversion statistics to improve the content and functionality of our site.

Our site's registration form requires users to give us contact information (such as their name and email address) and business information (such as business type, expected volume and transactions). We use customer contact information from the registration form to send the user our auction notification email, and share it with TradeWinds AS for consenting users. This information is never sold or rented out to other third parties.

Users can subscribe or unsubscribe to receiving our newsletter and marketing during registration. Users that consent to receiving marketing may also receive marketing from TradeWinds. Later, users who no longer wish to receive these emails may unsubscribe.

The customer's contact information is also used to contact the visitor when necessary (for instance to verify registration information, or collect payment for transactions). Business information that is collected is used to check the users qualifications for registration. Third parties may be used to verify the identity of the user. Demographic and profile data is also collected at our site. We use this data to tailor the visitor's experience at our site, showing them content that we think they might be interested in, and displaying the content according to their preferences.

This site contains links to other sites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such Web sites.

As a service to the user, the site offers a feature that allows a user to send auction details or messages to a person via e-mail. The e-mail address of the recipient is used to to send a one-time email about auction details. The message may be monitored by us to ensure it confirms with our policies.

As a service to the user, the site offers a feature that allows the user to send us feedback. This information is used to respond directly to your questions or comments. We may also file your comments to improve the site, or review and discard your comments.

Auction information collected during the posting and bidding process is considered public information.

The site also offers a message board. Any information collected in this message board is considered public information. Please remember that any information that is disclosed in these areas becomes public information and you should exercise caution when deciding to disclose your personal information.

2. Our disclosure of your information
When selling or posting notices on our site, we will publish your (numeric) user ID or your Company Name to any user of our Services. We will publish contact details such as Name, Phone, Fax and Web URL to other Users that have logged in.

We will not publish your e-mail address, but may provide tools that allow Users to send you an email. If you choose to respond to these messages, your email will become known to that User.

If you are involved in a transaction, we have a feature that allows other users to view your email address and obtain your contact information.

ShipX discloses aggregated user statistics in order to describe our services and reach to prospective partners, advertisers and other third parties. However aggregate data is not traceable to you specifically

We will not share any of your information with any outside party without your consent unless we are required to by law or in the good-faith belief that such action is necessary in order to conform to the edicts of the law or comply with a legal process served on our web site.

3. Your use of others information
In order to facilitate interaction among all ShipX community members, our service allows you limited access other users' contact information. As a seller you have access to the User ID, email address and other contact information of the buyer or winning bidder(s), and as a buyer or winning bidder you have access to the User ID, email address and other contact information of the seller.

By entering into our User Agreement, you agree that, with respect to other users' personal information that you obtain through the Site or through an ShipX-related communication or ShipX-facilitated transaction, ShipX hereby grants to you a license to use such information only for:
1. ShipX-related communications that are not unsolicited commercial messages,
2. any other purpose that such user expressly opts into after adequate disclosure of the purpose(s).

In all cases, you must give users an opportunity to remove themselves from your database and a chance to review what information you have collected about them. In addition, under no circumstances, except as defined in this Section, can you disclose personal information about another user to any third party without our consent and the consent of such other user after adequate disclosure. Note that law enforcement personnel and other rights holders are given different rights with respect to information they access. We and our users do not tolerate spam. Therefore, without limiting the foregoing, you are not licensed to add a ShipX user to your mail list (email or physical mail) without their express consent after adequate disclosure.

4. Use of email tools
You may not use our email tools to send spam or otherwise send content that would violate our User Agreement or Privacy Policy.

If you send an email with our tools to an email address that is not registered in our community, we do not use that email address for any purpose other than to send your email.

5. Control of your passwords
You are responsible for all actions taken with your User ID and password. You should choose a strong password and change it regularly.

If you lose control of your password, you may lose substantial control over your personal information and may be subject to legally binding actions taken on your behalf. Therefore, if your password has been compromised for any reason, you should immediately change your password.

6. Accessing, reviewing and changing your personal information
This site gives Users the following options for changing or modifying information previously provided:
(a) Log in to My Account,
(b) email support@shipx.org

You must promptly update your personal information if it changes. Once posted, you cannot change or remove any public postings or bids made.

We will retain in our files information you have requested to remove in some circumstances, such as to prevent fraud, resolve disputes, troubleshoot problems, assist with any investigations, and enforce our User Agreement, and to comply with legal requirements. Further, such prior information is never completely removed from our databases due to technical constraints and the fact that we back up our systems. Therefore, you should not expect that all of your personal information will be completely removed from our databases in response to your requests.

The Company may, in its discretion, but is not obligated to, monitor material, content and information on the Site, including, but not limited to auction listings, e-mails sent from site, questions and messages posted and bidding activity, to determine compliance with the terms and conditions of this User Agreement and current and future operating procedures and rules of conduct established by the Company. The Company may also intercept and disclose any content, record, use or other information to the extent reasonably necessary to carry out the terms of this User Agreement, to protect the rights of the Company, for mechanical or service quality control as permitted by law, or to comply with any law, regulation, information, or court order submitted or transmitted to the Company. The Company reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to amend, edit, remove or otherwise block any material posted by a User which may, in the Company's sole discretion, violate any apliccable law or violate any aspect of this User Agreement or in order to limit Company's liability. However, the Company does not assume responsibility for verifying the material, content and information on its Site and is not responsible for any damages, losses, expenses or other injuries incurred by any User as a result of relying on any material, content and information posted on the Company's Site.

7. Security
ShipX has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse and alteration of the information under our control. Your information is stored on our server located in Norway, and adhers to the data protection laws and regulations of that country.

We follow generally accepted industry standards to protect the personal information submitted to us, both during transmission and once we receive it. No method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure, however. Therefore, while we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

8. Notice
If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes to this privacy statement, the home page, and other places we deem appropriate so that you are aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it.

We reserve the right to modify this privacy statement at any time, so please review it frequently. If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you here, by email, or by means of a prominent notice on our home page.
